Dan is a Managing Director in FGMK’s Specialty Tax Practice and is the tax co-lead for the firm’s tax due diligence and heads federal tax incentive engagements, including R&D tax credits. During his career, Dan has worked with clients of various sizes and entity structures across numerous industries, including advanced manufacturing, financial services, and software. He has been published in The Tax Adviser and has presented on multiple webinars and at tax conferences.

Dan also serves as the Head of Tax Operations for FGMK. In that role, he provides leadership and guidance on the evolving tax landscape under new tax laws, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and the 2020 CARES Act. He leverages this knowledge to provide technical review of taxpayers’ tax profiles and compliance history during the due diligence phase of M&A transactions. As part of his review, Dan also serves as a key resource and subject matter expert as to the tax structuring of such transactions to ensure tax efficiency.

Prior to joining FGMK in 2016, Dan served as a Director at a Los Angeles-based firm where he focused on federal tax incentives. He previously served as a Senior Manager in the R&D and government incentives practice at a Big 4 firm in Chicago. Prior to his public accounting career, Dan served as a law clerk at the Illinois Appellate Court, First District.
